The best and acceptable Diesel will show a  specific gravity range of (0.850)g/cm3.  With Density less than  (o.840)g/cm3 must jsve been adulterated. A sure way to help your engine  last longer  is by measuring the quality of your diesel with specific hydrometer

Range 0.700 – 1.000g/cm3. 

You will be surprised at the difference in quality between various diesels supplied that can lead to low fuel economy , this will potentially shorten the life time of your engine or leads to unnecessary costs.  Low diesel density can also lead  poor combustion efficiency , costing you in excessive fuel.
